Experience and teaching history are provided by the instructor. Instructors are independent contractors, not InstaSwim employees. Every instructor you can be matched with has been background checked, keeps a CPR and First Aid card on file, has finished InstaSwim's safety and conduct training, and has signed the contractor agreement. These are eligibility steps, not an endorsement. Review your matched instructor's profile before your first lesson.

How it works

Three steps to the first splash.

1

Tell us about your swimmers

ZIP code, ages, comfort level and lesson length. About two minutes, no card.

2

Meet your instructor

An instructor who serves Garland accepts, and you get their profile. Not the right fit? Request a new instructor, up to 2 times per package.

3

Confirm and swim

Pick a start date, pay your invoice, and meet at your pool. Weekly payment plans are available on packages.

What a lesson looks like

Built around your swimmer.

30 minutes to 2 hours

Choose 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes or 2 hours, plus Mommy & Me for a parent swimming with a little one. Packages of 6 and 12 lower the per-lesson rate.

Six months to adults

Babies get water comfort with a parent. Preschoolers learn to float, kick and breathe. Older kids build strokes, and teens work on technique and endurance.

A pool your family arranges

Your building's pool, a condo or HOA pool, or a backyard pool. InstaSwim does not provide pools, and any pool fees go to the pool, not InstaSwim.

No pool yet? You can still book.

Not every family has a pool at home, and that is fine. When the booking app asks about a pool, choose No or Not sure yet, then pick a plan. InstaSwim does not own pools, and any pool fees are paid to the pool, not to InstaSwim.

Where Garland kids learn to swim, and when

The local season, the places swimmers use, and how private lessons fit around them.

Garland swimmers mostly get in the water at backyard, condo and HOA pools close to home, where an independent instructor can meet a family for steady, unhurried lessons.

How kids come up here

The places Garland swimmers use, youngest first.

  1. 1
    Babies to preschool

    First splashes with a parent

The youngest Garland swimmers start in a parent's arms at the home, building or HOA pool your family arranges. An independent instructor guides the parent and child through floating, kicking and getting comfortable with water on the face, at a pace that suits a small child.

  2. 2
    Grade school

    Learning strokes before summer

Grade schoolers work on floating, kicking, breathing and early freestyle and backstroke. Many Garland families pair private lessons with summer pool days, and Richardson to the northwest runs city outdoor pools through the warm months, so kids arrive at summer with skills to practice.

  3. 3
    Teens

    Stroke work and team goals

Teens often want cleaner strokes, better endurance or a start toward a swim team. An instructor at your family's pool can focus on turns, breathing patterns and pacing, giving a teen in Garland focused time that a crowded summer pool rarely allows.

  4. 4
    High school

    Getting ready for winter season

Texas high school swimming runs through the winter under the UIL, with district and regional meets in late January and early February and state meets in February. Garland swimmers who want to compete can use the fall to sharpen technique and conditioning before meets begin.

Where private lessons fit

How families in and around Garland use an independent instructor.

When families book

April is when Garland families start reaching out, ahead of the busy summer swimming months, and requests stay strong through May, June and July. The independent instructor comes to the home, condo or HOA pool your family arranges.

Pools families use

Your building's pool, a condo or HOA pool, or a backyard pool: you and your instructor settle it, inside their travel radius.

Water to know about

Lavon Lake in southeast Collin County has designated swim beaches from April through September, unsupervised and without lifeguards, while White Rock Lake is closed to swimming. Lessons build skills and comfort but do not make anyone safe around water, so an adult watches every swimmer.

We’re glad we found Nate! Nate adjusts his approach to my 5year old’s silliness. The classes are playful while also skill building. My son looks forward to his classes with Coach Nate! Nate also communicates timely and effectively. What else would you want?

Coach Nathan is amazing! My girls feel so comfortable with him. They have made amazing progress just after 2 lessons. My youngest went from being after to put her head under water and is now giggling and happy when she does it. I definitely recommend doing lesson with Coach Nathan

Talk to the InstaSwim team
Can I pick my instructor?

InstaSwim matches you with an independent instructor based on your location and each swimmer's age and comfort level. You see the instructor's profile before you pay, and you can request a new instructor up to 2 times per package.

Do we need our own pool in Garland?

Lessons happen at a pool your family arranges: your building's pool, a condo or HOA pool, or a backyard pool. InstaSwim does not own or provide pools. Any pool fees are paid to the pool, not to InstaSwim.

Can a private swim instructor come to our home or building pool in Garland?

Yes, when the pool allows it. For a building, condo or HOA pool, check the pool rules for guests and instructors first, then set the day and time with your instructor. InstaSwim does not arrange pool access.

Do you offer baby and toddler swim lessons in Garland?

Yes. Mommy & Me lessons put a parent in the water with babies and toddlers from 6 months, and lessons for ages 3 to 6 work on floating, kicking and breath control. Tell us each child's age when you register so the match accounts for it.

When do I pay?

Registering is free. Once your instructor is confirmed and you agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. Packages of 2 or more lessons can be paid in weekly installments.

What does it cost in Garland?

Rates are per lesson and set for your ZIP code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate. There is a $20 registration fee per swimmer, refunded only if no lessons take place.

What if the instructor is not the right fit?

Ask for a new instructor from your Match Hub. You can do this up to 2 times per package, and InstaSwim finds the next instructor for you.

Who are the instructors in Garland?

Independent contractors on the InstaSwim roster, not InstaSwim employees. Every instructor you can be matched with has been background checked, keeps a CPR and First Aid card on file, has finished safety and conduct training, and has signed the contractor agreement. Experience is provided by the instructor, and families review the matched instructor before booking.

Which towns near Garland do your instructors serve?

Instructors on the Garland roster also travel to Montclair, East Rowlett, Rowlett, Lake Highlands, Sachse and Lochwood, within their own travel radius. Type your ZIP above to see the rates for your town.

Is there a lake near Garland where my kids can swim?

Lavon Lake in southeast Collin County, near Wylie, is the main swim lake nearby. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers runs it, and its designated swim beaches are open from April through September. Those swimming areas are unsupervised and have no lifeguards, so an adult should watch every swimmer. White Rock Lake and Bachman Lake are closed to swimming by city code.

When is the high school swim season for Garland teens?

Texas high school swimming is a winter sport under the UIL. Recent dates put district certification in late January, regional meets in late January or early February depending on classification, and state meets in mid to late February. Many teens use the fall for stroke and conditioning work so they are ready when meets start.

Will lessons make my child water safe?

No lesson makes anyone safe around water. Lessons build skills, comfort and good habits. An adult should watch every swimmer, every time, at the pool and near open water.
