Every instructor you can be matched with has been background checked, keeps a CPR and First Aid card on file, has finished InstaSwim's safety and conduct training, and has signed the contractor agreement. How it works

Three steps to the first splash.

1

Tell us about your swimmers

ZIP code, ages, comfort level and lesson length. About two minutes, no card.

2

Meet your instructor

An instructor who serves Miami accepts, and you get their profile. Not the right fit? Request a new instructor, up to 2 times per package.

3

Confirm and swim

Pick a start date, pay your invoice, and meet at your pool. Weekly payment plans are available on packages.

What a lesson looks like

Built around your swimmer.

30 minutes to 2 hours

Choose 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes or 2 hours, plus Mommy & Me for a parent swimming with a little one. Packages of 6 and 12 lower the per-lesson rate.

Six months to adults

Babies get water comfort with a parent. Preschoolers learn to float, kick and breathe. Older kids build strokes, and teens work on technique and endurance.

A pool your family arranges

Your building's pool, a condo or HOA pool, or a backyard pool. InstaSwim does not provide pools, and any pool fees go to the pool, not InstaSwim.

No pool yet? You can still book.

Not every family has a pool at home, and that is fine. When the booking app asks about a pool, choose No or Not sure yet, then pick a plan. InstaSwim does not own pools, and any pool fees are paid to the pool, not to InstaSwim.

Mommy & Me lessons with a parent in the water: gentle holds, songs and splashing that make the pool feel familiar.

Ages 3 to 6

Learn to swim

Floating, kicking, breath control and getting back to the wall. Short, playful lessons that build confidence first.

Ages 7 to 12

Stroke building

Freestyle and backstroke take shape, then breaststroke and treading water, with endurance built lap by lap.

Teens

Technique and endurance

Teens aiming for the FHSAA season, which starts with practices in late July, can sharpen strokes and build swim fitness through spring and early summer.

Closer to home

Your building. Your pool. Your schedule.

Instructors on the Miami roster travel to building pools, condo and HOA pools, and backyard pools across Miami-Dade County and the towns around it. You and your instructor settle the spot, inside their travel radius.

Where Miami kids learn to swim, and when

The local season, the places swimmers use, and how private lessons fit around them.

Many Miami families have no pool at home, so they book lessons at the building, condo or HOA pool they already use, with Key Biscayne and Miami Beach only a short drive away.

How kids come up here

The places Miami swimmers use, youngest first.

  1. 1
    Babies to preschool

    First splashes with a parent

Little ones often start with a parent in the water. Miami-Dade Parks offers Parents and Tots for ages 2 to 5 and Preschool Aquatics for ages 4 and 5, and City of Miami Parks and Recreation runs Parent and Toddler classes. A private instructor can also meet you at your own building pool.

  2. 2
    Grade school

    Learn2Swim levels year-round

Grade schoolers here can move through Miami-Dade Parks Learn2Swim Levels 1 to 6, taught in two-week sessions of 30 to 45 minute classes. Tropical Estates Pool in Miami is one of the county's Learn2Swim pools. Zero Drownings Miami-Dade also brings free swim lessons to children from age 4 through kindergarten during the school year.

  3. 3
    Teens

    Building strokes and stamina

Learn2Swim levels run through age 18, so teens can keep refining strokes in group classes. Others prefer one-on-one time at their condo or HOA pool, working on technique, flip turns and endurance before trying out for a high school team.

  4. 4
    High school

    FHSAA swimming and diving

Many Miami-Dade public high schools have boys and girls swim teams under the Florida High School Athletic Association. First practices start in late July, the regular season runs into mid-October, and state meets are held in November in Ocala across four classes, 1A to 4A.

Where private lessons fit

How families in and around Miami use an independent instructor.

When families book

Families with a heated building or condo pool can keep lessons going all year, and the instructor comes to the pool you arrange. Most Miami families book in March, April, May and June.

Pools families use

Your building's pool, a condo or HOA pool, or a backyard pool: you and your instructor settle it, inside their travel radius.

Water to know about

Crandon Park on Key Biscayne has a low-surf lagoon-style beach, and Miami Beach and Matheson Hammock Park are close by. Lessons build skills and comfort but do not make anyone safe around water, so an adult watches every swimmer.

I am extremely pleased with the swimming lessons my children have received. The instructor has been wonderful, very patient and kind with the kids, making them feel comfortable and confident in the water.

Coach Q was awesome! She is flexible and accommodating to my child’s swim needs and addressed some of her fears with gentle guidance yet firm expectations. My child went from being scared of getting her face wet to successfully diving, jumping off of the deep end of the pool, and swimming the length with roll over and floating in between. Her confidence in swimming and excitement of being in the water was completely transformed in less than a week with lessons from coach Q!

Patient and kind with my kids. In a short time, she’s helped them develop a love and confidence for the water. Jenna is an excellent instructor!

Talk to the InstaSwim team
Can I pick my instructor?

InstaSwim matches you with an independent instructor based on your location and each swimmer's age and comfort level. You see the instructor's profile before you pay, and you can request a new instructor up to 2 times per package.

Do we need our own pool in Miami?

Lessons happen at a pool your family arranges: your building's pool, a condo or HOA pool, or a backyard pool. InstaSwim does not own or provide pools. Any pool fees are paid to the pool, not to InstaSwim.

Can a private swim instructor come to our home or building pool in Miami?

Yes, when the pool allows it. For a building, condo or HOA pool, check the pool rules for guests and instructors first, then set the day and time with your instructor. InstaSwim does not arrange pool access.

Do you offer baby and toddler swim lessons in Miami?

Yes. Mommy & Me lessons put a parent in the water with babies and toddlers from 6 months, and lessons for ages 3 to 6 work on floating, kicking and breath control. Tell us each child's age when you register so the match accounts for it.

When do I pay?

Registering is free. Once your instructor is confirmed and you agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. Packages of 2 or more lessons can be paid in weekly installments.

What does it cost in Miami?

Rates are per lesson and set for your ZIP code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate. There is a $20 registration fee per swimmer, refunded only if no lessons take place.

What if the instructor is not the right fit?

Ask for a new instructor from your Match Hub. You can do this up to 2 times per package, and InstaSwim finds the next instructor for you.

Who are the instructors in Miami?

Independent contractors on the InstaSwim roster, not InstaSwim employees. Every instructor you can be matched with has been background checked, keeps a CPR and First Aid card on file, has finished safety and conduct training, and has signed the contractor agreement. Experience is provided by the instructor, and families review the matched instructor before booking.

Which towns near Miami do your instructors serve?

Instructors on the Miami roster also travel to Fisher Island, Miami Beach, Brownsville, Coral Gables, Gladeview and Miami Dade County, within their own travel radius. Type your ZIP above to see the rates for your town.

Do public pools near Miami stay open in winter?

Yes. Public outdoor pools around Miami stay open all year. Miami-Dade County pools such as the A.D. Barnes Park pool are open year-round, and the Miami Springs Aquatic Center is heated in winter, usually between 78 and 84 degrees. InstaSwim lessons take place at a pool your family arranges, such as your home, building or condo pool.

Are there free swim lessons for young kids in Miami?

Zero Drownings Miami-Dade, a partnership that includes Miami-Dade County Public Schools and The Children's Trust, gives free swim lessons to children from age 4 through kindergarten during the school year, often as field trips to county pools. Families wanting more practice can add private lessons at their own pool.

Will lessons make my child water safe?

No lesson makes anyone safe around water. Lessons build skills, comfort and good habits. An adult should watch every swimmer, every time, at the pool and near open water.
