Experience and teaching history are provided by the instructor. Instructors are independent contractors, not InstaSwim employees. Every instructor you can be matched with has been background checked, keeps a CPR and First Aid card on file, has finished InstaSwim's safety and conduct training, and has signed the contractor agreement. These are eligibility steps, not an endorsement. Review your matched instructor's profile before your first lesson.

The local season, the places swimmers use, and how private lessons fit around them.
Summer is the main swim season for Mesa families, and with city pools around the Phoenix area running summer schedules in June and July, parents start planning lessons well before the heat arrives.

- 1Babies to preschool
First splashes with a parent
The youngest Mesa swimmers start in a pool they already know, whether that is a backyard, a condo complex or an HOA pool. A parent stays in the water while the instructor works on floating, blowing bubbles and getting comfortable with a face in the water, at a pace that suits a small child.
- 2Grade school
Strokes for the long summer
Grade schoolers in Mesa build freestyle, backstroke and breathing as spring warms into the long Arizona summer. Short, steady lessons at a home or neighborhood pool help kids gain comfort and stamina, so the summer months spent around pools with friends and family feel more relaxed for everyone.
- 3Teens
Stroke and fitness work
Teens often want cleaner strokes, better turns and more endurance, whether for fitness or a school team. An instructor can focus on technique and conditioning at a family or community pool, building toward the fall high school season or simply stronger, more confident swimming.
- 4High school
A fall sport in Arizona
Arizona high school swimming and diving is a fall sport run by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA). Invitationals start in September, district meets follow in October, and the state championships come in early November, so Mesa swimmers often use summer to sharpen strokes before tryouts.

Tempe Town Lake, a short way west of Mesa, is not a swim lake, and the City of Tempe prohibits swimming there outside special events. Lessons build skills and comfort but do not make anyone safe around water, so an adult watches every swimmer.

She was on time, very kind, and my kids felt comfortable with her.
Wyatt is swimming much better after his first lesson! She helped him recover skills he lost since last summer and pick up new skills.
Rebecca was so great to work with. Super flexible and my kids loved her. She adapted to each one of their needs and we appreciate her so much in teaching our kids water safety!

Talk to the InstaSwim teamCan I pick my instructor?
InstaSwim matches you with an independent instructor based on your location and each swimmer's age and comfort level. You see the instructor's profile before you pay, and you can request a new instructor up to 2 times per package.
Do we need our own pool in Mesa?
Lessons happen at a pool your family arranges: your building's pool, a condo or HOA pool, or a backyard pool. InstaSwim does not own or provide pools. Any pool fees are paid to the pool, not to InstaSwim.
Can a private swim instructor come to our home or building pool in Mesa?
Yes, when the pool allows it. For a building, condo or HOA pool, check the pool rules for guests and instructors first, then set the day and time with your instructor. InstaSwim does not arrange pool access.
Do you offer baby and toddler swim lessons in Mesa?
Yes. Mommy & Me lessons put a parent in the water with babies and toddlers from 6 months, and lessons for ages 3 to 6 work on floating, kicking and breath control. Tell us each child's age when you register so the match accounts for it.
When do I pay?
Registering is free. Once your instructor is confirmed and you agree on a start date, your invoice arrives by email. Packages of 2 or more lessons can be paid in weekly installments.
What does it cost in Mesa?
Rates are per lesson and set for your ZIP code. Packages of 6 and 12 lessons lower the per-lesson rate. There is a $20 registration fee per swimmer, refunded only if no lessons take place.
What if the instructor is not the right fit?
Ask for a new instructor from your Match Hub. You can do this up to 2 times per package, and InstaSwim finds the next instructor for you.
Who are the instructors in Mesa?
Independent contractors on the InstaSwim roster, not InstaSwim employees. Every instructor you can be matched with has been background checked, keeps a CPR and First Aid card on file, has finished safety and conduct training, and has signed the contractor agreement. Experience is provided by the instructor, and families review the matched instructor before booking.
Which towns near Mesa do your instructors serve?
Instructors on the Mesa roster also travel to Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Phoenix, within their own travel radius. Type your ZIP above to see the rates for your town.
Can Mesa families swim at Tempe Town Lake?
No. The City of Tempe prohibits swimming or entering the water at Tempe Town Lake except during special events organized through its Parks and Recreation Department. Families use the lake and Tempe Beach Park for boating, paddling, fishing and walking, and there is no lifeguarded swim season. Most swimming for Mesa families happens at home and neighborhood pools.
What does Arizona require around a home pool in Mesa?
Arizona's barrier law, A.R.S. 36-1681, applies to home pools where a child under six lives. It generally calls for a barrier at least five feet high with self-closing, self-latching gates that open outward from the pool. Local codes can add their own rules, so Mesa families should also check with the city.
Will lessons make my child water safe?
No lesson makes anyone safe around water. Lessons build skills, comfort and good habits. An adult should watch every swimmer, every time, at the pool and near open water.
